Both features indicate that I. dispar might disperse via phoresy, but possible hosts were not known until now. A field experiment was conducted to determine whether I. dispar performs phoresy and to identify potential host taxa. Imparipes dispar turned out to be a host generalist, accepting Diptera, Coleoptera and Hymenoptera as hosts. Several of the detected phoresy host taxa are potentially new for scutacarids.

ER -
