Abstract

A new species of elongate springtail (Collembola: Entomobryomorpha) is described: Entomobrya terraeincognitae sp. nov. This species was collected from inside nurseries at the Cambridge University Botanic Garden in the UK and shares characteristics with some Neotropical and Nearctic congeners, suggesting that it may have been introduced from elsewhere. These characteristics include a relatively short fourth abdominal segment, the short spine-like setae of the trochanteral organ, and highly reduced 
dorsal chaetotaxy.
